An evening at the Lincoln Theater. Why? I’m glad you asked, because South Pacific isn’t going to watch itself.

Actual conversation: (Cue the orchestra: Playing the show’s most famous score – Some Enchanted Evening.) Ashley (leans over to whisper): Some Enchanted Evening! Me (misunderstanding what Ashley just whispered): Yeah, it really is some enchanting evening, Ash. Ashley: Wait, what? I was talking about the name of the song…what were YOU talking about?

Now clearly, I can’t afford to out-right attend such upper-class-theatrical events without a bit of cultural sponsorship. Where do I find such edifying progressive investors? I’m glad you asked. Cue my parent’s grand entrĂ©e.

So far, endowments have consisted of but are not limited to:

  • The American Folk Art Museum
  • Opening night of The Little Mermaid
  • MoMA
  • A trip to the Whitney
  • August in Osage County
  • Eric Clapton (I'm hoping for a concert cultural reimbursement on this one, I mean, Slowhands IS a living legend after all.)

And the latest installment: South Pacific at Lincoln Center via NY’s Young Patron’s Association. (Sidenote, apparently my patronage of above arts qualified me to become a member of New York’s Young Patrons Association, holla!)

Anyway, due to our newfound patron(ship), post show Ash and I were invited to the cast after-party. Where we were able to hobnob with the show’s stars – Only we didn’t because we were starving and our cocktails weren’t going to drink themselves, am I right?
